New collection in the works: 100 Gouache paintings

In this blog series I’ll be sharing my journey of learning and developing my creative voice through 100 gouache paintings. My goal is to build a new body of work, share my process, discuss my challenges and triumphs, and get comfortable with sharing my work online.

1/100 Gouache Paintings

Yellow Teapot, Red Flowers

Gouache on paper 5x8 1/4 in.

I believe the inspiration image came from Pexels.com. With this painting in the series I wanted to focus more on my drawing technique and adding texture with paint.

I like the imperfect lines on the gingham print, and the dry brush texture on the teapot. However I’m not loving the texture created on the most prominent leaves.

In the future I’ll use a more muted green for the leaf lines, and look for ways to add more dimension the the flowers.
